The thoughts behind the painting:
A face gazes outward, its eye clear and searching, while upon the head lies a kind of helmet - dense, layered, resembling the bark of a tree. Its labyrinth of lines recalls annual rings, each one a memory, each one a story pressed into form. These patterns, like tree growth, mark the passage of time, yet they also weigh heavy, enclosing the mind in their rigid shell.
Around this bark-like crown, colors flare - yellow, orange, green, violet - suggesting that change is already stirring. 
The mouth exhales softly, bubbles rising like freed emotions, as if the old rings are loosening, peeling away. What was once armor becomes release, and the painting whispers: even the hardest bark can fall away, revealing the living, breathing self beneath.
